new ticket machines are coming

We are delighted to let you know that we are rolling out brand-new ticket machines from Monday 8 December!

New ticket machines

The new ticket machines will be supplied by Transmach, and you should be seeing them on the buses, and be using them, from Monday 8.

Whilst the ticket machines will have very similar features to the existing ones, there are some slight differences that you will notice. 

When paying using bank cards, smartcards and concessionary passes, you will notice that the contactless area where you place cards will be in a new position at the top of the machine – clearly marked with the contactless icon. It works exactly the same as current – just tap the reader and wait for the beep and green light, but the speed of the new machines will be a lot faster. 

If you have a QR code on your ticket (for paper day tickets and mobile tickets), you should place your ticket or phone with the QR code face-up on the bottom of the ticket machine as normal – the spot will be clearly marked with a barcode icon. 

Tap on, tap off will still work the same as normal, just say hello and tap your card on the contactless area at the top of the machine - and remember to tap off when you leave using the reader on the pole by the exit.
