NEWBURY & DISTRICT BUS ROUTES

Newbury & District is a name synonymous with public transport in West Berkshire since 1932. 85 years later we’re proud to be providing the very highest levels of service with modern buses and a small team of friendly drivers.

NEW TIMETABLES FOR SERVICES 1A, 1C AND 1D FROM MONDAY 12TH JUNE 2017

We are proud to unveil our new timetables for services 1A, 1C and 1D which will begin on Monday 12th June 2017 and will incorporate a number of changes which we hope will add to the convenience of all three. A number of these changes have been introduced following suggestions from our customers.

Notices will be displayed on our buses during week commencing 5th June and ample stocks of timetable leaflets will be carried on our buses from that time. You will, of course, be most welcome to take these timetable leaflets with you to refer to over the coming weeks.

Our Spring Saver fares will remain in operation until further notice.

Thank you once again to all our customers for so loyally supporting our services and we do hope that you will like our new timings even more than the old ones. Please look out for more exciting improvements to come in the near future.

“Spring Saver” range of fares :-

Adult Child (aged 5 to 18 years) *
Any single journey £1.00 £0.50
Day Ticket £2.00 £1.00
10 Tripper £10.00 £5.00
Weekly Ticket £10.00 £5.00
Monthly Ticket £30.00 £15.00

We are delighted to announce that as from 12th June 2017, in addition to our own range of day, weekly, ten tripper and monthly tickets for use on services 1A, 1C and 1D, you will be able to purchase the full range of West Berkshire Connect tickets from our drivers on these services. Connect tickets represent outstanding value for money, being accepted, according to zone, on all West Berkshire Council sponsored “Kennections” services, all West Berkshire Council’s own minibus services and any other service sponsored by them, together with Reading Transport’s Jet Red services and their Jet Black service between Colthrop Lane and Newbury Bus Station - as well as all our own services.

Great News for Concessionary Pass Holders

“At last we can announce the news that so many concessionary pass holders have been so patiently waiting for. Our loyal senior citizen and disabled customers no longer need to sit at home, watching the minutes tick by, so slowly, to 0930hrs when they can use their concessionary passes to take a journey on the 1A, 1C or 1D! Having taken specialist advice we are delighted to confirm that we are able to allow our concessionary pass holders free travel at any time on these, our commercial services and so we will be doing just that, straight away, from Thursday 15th June 2017. We will receive no reimbursement for journeys taken before 0930hrs but we consider the freedom of our concessionary pass holders who need to travel early for hospital appointments etc. to be worth the loss that we will incur. Many of you have been loyal to us, your local bus company, for more years than any of us might care to remember and now, at last, we can repay some of that loyalty.”

*From 24th April our half fares will permanently apply to all young people from their 5th until their 19th birthday.

Please note that all day returns and period tickets are entirely interchangeable between Services 1A, 1C and 1D.

Services 9/9A/9C/9D and 103 remain entirely unaltered. There are absolutely no changes to the timetables, the fares charged or issue and acceptance of tickets and passess on these services.

We participate in the English National Concessionary Travel scheme, whereby senior citizens and other holders of valid concessionary travel passes travel free after 09.30 on weekdays and all day at weekends and on Public Holidays.

All our buses are fitted with seatbelts and all have a step free entrance, making them particularly suitable for wheelchair users and passengers with pushchairs. Every bus is powered by the very latest Euro 5 or Euro 6 low emission engine, resulting in our fleet being extremely environmentally friendly.

More information about these and other public transport services is available via the Council's Public Transport website.

PRIVATE CHARTER

Our buses are also available to hire; we offer a range of sizes from 29 to 86 seats, so please call 01635 33855 or email: with your requirements.
